ABOUT ME

Susan Anthony, Founder / Owner

Like many professionals in the health and fitness industry, I’m driven each day by an intense desire to share with others the incredible benefits of living a healthier, more balanced lifestyle.

I’ve been involved in the fitness industry for over 30 years, beginning as a personal trainer throughout the New York City and New England areas. I would train clients using free weights and machines to help build strength and improve their overall fitness. While these methods were effective, I began to realize I wanted to offer something more. Something that supported a broader picture of health for both my clients and myself. I wasn’t sure what that was yet, but I’d soon find it.

In 2000, I inquired about an exercise method called “Pilates.” Starting out, I had limited knowledge of what Pilates was, but it would grow into an experience I would never forget. I recognized and immediately felt that Pilates would become a part of who I am today. It was the deeper, more integrated connection between the body, mind, and movement I had been searching for.

After researching all the different Pilates training programs, I decided on the original — the one Joseph H. Pilates (1883–1967) created and perfected himself, known as The Authentic Pilates Method™, also referred to as Classical. I had the privilege to study under Romana Kryzanowska (1923–2013), Joseph Pilates’ protégé and chosen successor, as well as her daughter Sari Mejia Santo, Juanita Lopez, Ton Voogt, and Michael Fritzke. Each of them enriched my understanding of the work. It was a special time in my life that helped shape the way I teach. In 2002, I received my graduate certificate in The Authentic Pilates Method™, signed by Romana herself.

In 2003, I added another dimension to my path by becoming a licensed esthetician. Although I transitioned to a full-time movement teacher in 2002 and no longer practice esthetics professionally, I still maintain a strong interest in skincare and prioritize my own skin health.

In 2006, I became certified in The GYROTONIC® Method, a three-dimensional system that moves the body through flowing, circular, and dynamic sequences. Often described as “yoga for dancers,” it’s performed on a beautifully designed piece of equipment called the Pulley Tower, as well as several other pieces of equipment. Exploring this method deepened my appreciation for intelligent movement and inspired me to expand my work even further.

In 2013, I wanted to deepen my understanding of nutrition, our relationship to food, and how the foods we eat can impact our lives and sense of balance. I became a certified holistic health coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN), where I explored nutrition and its connection to our emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.

In 2017, I became a licensed massage therapist. I’d thought about pursuing it back in 2001, but chose skincare school at the time. It stayed in the back of my mind for years, and I’m glad I eventually returned to it. With my background in movement and body mechanics, massage therapy felt like a natural extension of my passion for healing. I now integrate hands-on techniques with movement practices to offer a well-rounded approach to recovery, stress management, and optimal health.

In 2018, I completed my 500-hour yoga teacher training (RYT). There are elements of yoga in both the Pilates Method and the GYROTONIC® Method, which is why it felt like the missing link, the piece that had been missing in my life.

In 2025, I completed advanced training in the Myoskeletal Alignment Technique(s) (MAT), adding to my practice another layer of specialized care and structural understanding.

When the COVID pandemic hit, I made the significant decision to close my fully equipped Pilates and GYROTONIC® studio, sell all of my equipment, and move to virtual instruction. What began as a necessary shift became a passion I truly enjoy. It’s allowed me to connect with people from all over and continue sharing this work in a way that still feels personal and impactful. I now offer both virtual yoga and Pilates mat classes, as well as in-studio private Pilates Reformer sessions.

To me, fitness and wellness aren’t just goals. They are lifelong paths filled with energy, self-discovery, and growth. I’m grateful every day to do what I love and to witness the transformation of those I work with.

I look forward to connecting and being a part of your journey.
